Tiger Creek Dam – Trimble 4D Control Server

Industry Project – Summer to Fall 2023
Summary: Assisted with automated monitoring of emergency spillway construction using Trimble 4D Control and automated total stations. Maintained server infrastructure, added monitoring points, and delivered weekly displacement reports to the client.
Methods: Automated Total Station integration, T4D server setup, monitoring network expansion, weekly reporting scripts, redundant system backups
Software: Trimble 4D Control, Windows Server 2019
Outcomes: Achieved 24/7 automated monitoring; delivered weekly displacement reports to the client; ensured project uptime during critical spillway construction
Project Overview: Worked under Andrew LaBine, PLS at Praxis Land Surveying on a monitoring project at Tiger Creek Dam. I supported real-time displacement tracking during spillway construction by configuring Windows Server 2019, integrating Trimble 4D Control, and maintaining automated total station connections. I also set up weekly report generation and created redundant backup systems to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
Key Skills Gained:
- Integrated automated total stations into a monitoring network
- Developed scripts for scheduled reporting and alerting
- Configured Trimble 4D Control and Windows Server for real-time monitoring
- Maintained redundant backups and ensured system uptime
- Collaborated with a licensed surveyor on real-world engineering infrastructure
